Refined sculpture in terracotta, accurately painted with engobes. The motive, a dog on a leash that keeps watch over the home's entrance, is taken from a Mosaic found in Pompeii, and now in Neaples, Museo Archeologico Nazionale. "Cave Canem", written on a similar Pompeijan mosaic, means "Beware of the Dog".
Given its firing at about 1000° C, the sculpture can be placed outside and won't be damaged by sun, cold or ice.
