Elegant sculpture in terracotta, entirely and carefully handmade, and modeled following ancient techniques.
This beautiful Zeus' Head is freely inspired by the magnificent chryselephantine Statue of Zeus at the sanctuary of Olympia, carved in wood and decorated with gold, ivory and precious stones by the great sculptor Phidias.
Father of the Gods, king of the Sky, and lord of thunders and of the weather, Zeus stood undefeated among all other deities on Mount Olymp. As a source of inspiration for his superb statue, Phidias would cite these words of Homer:
"The son of Cronos spoke, and bowed his dark brow in assent, and the ambrosial locks waved from the king's immortal head; and he made great Olympus quake."
Fired at about 1000° C, this sculpture can be placed outside and won't be damaged by sun, cold, or ice.
