Wine Grape (Gilded Basrelief in Ceramic)

Refined sculpture in ceramic, painted with glazes, modelled and gilded following traditional techniques. 

Symbol of prosperity and cheerfulness, but also of forgetfulness and ecstasy, wine grapes have always had a religious meaning. Described in ancient Egyptian myths and, according to the Bible, "invented" by patriarch Noah, sacred to Dionysus, but important part of Christian liturgy too, wine was in ancient times not just a pleasure to share with friends and relatives, but a way to connect men with God. 

Due to ist gilding, this bas-relief should not be hung outside, unless very carefully protected from rain and snow.
