Elegant handmade sculpture in terracotta, modeled and painted with great attention to detail. This bas-relief is inspired by the figural decoration of the Anfora di Baratti, a silver vase crafted in Siria during the 4th century A.D.

It depicts a Maenad, one of the followers of Dionysus, Bacchus. God of wine, theater, music, and dance, Dionysus could bring his worshippers to a state of ecstasy and possession, and his festivals, the Dionysia or Bacchanalia were among the most important of ancient Greece and Rome.

Given its double firing at about 1000° C, this sculpture can be placed outside and won't be damaged by sun, cold, rain, or ice.
