This fascinating, carefully handmade terracotta is taken from an antefix excavated at Veii, an Etrurian city near the Tiber.
The original piece dates back to 525-500 B.C. and is preserved in Rome, Museo di Villa Giulia.
Given its firing at about 1000° C, the sculpture can be placed outside and won't be damaged by sun, cold or ice.
